Seniors Shaw and Powell lead accolades from AD3I

OVERLAND PARK, KAN.- Seniors Cayce Shaw and Gaby Powell earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards respectively from the Association of Division Three Independents in a vote by the Association's coaches.

Shaw led UCSC with eight goals on the season and was AD3I Player of the Week twice. Powell led the team in minutes played and was a stalwart on a back four that led the Association in goals allowed despite a tough schedule. She also had a pair of assists.

"I'm proud of what these players have accomplished," said head coach Lauren Nadler. "They've shown hard work, dedication, and commitment to this team throughout the year."

Joining the seniors on the AD3I First Team were sophomores Peyton Bell (defense) and Izel Gutierrez (midfield).

Freshman Fiona Nielsen was named Freshman of the Year after starting half the year on defense.

On the second team were defender Katie Schinnerer, midfielder/forward Alex Arce and midfielder/forward Joelle Steichen.
