PERSONAL: Parents are Tom and Jennifer Melvin. Sister is Sarah Melvin. Says the most influential people in her life are her parents because "they have been wonderful role models and my best friends. I can always depend on them to give me unconditional love and support my dreams."
She picked UCSC because "I can get a great education with excellent research opportunities. I also love the beautiful campus surrounded by lots of nature and it's close to the ocean."
Hobbies include arts and crafts, working out, swimming in the ocean, reading, family hikes, and playing in CBVA tournaments all summer long
