HIGH SCHOOL: Matthew was a four year varsity player, three year starter and two year captain. Earned All Sierra League honors for three years. Helped lead the team for the CIF playoffs all four years. Finished as #4 all time at Ayala in career steals and is Ayala’s all time leader in assists. Was a member of the All Sierra League Academic team (top 10 gpas in the entire league).

PERSONAL: His parents are Denise and Michael Ponce. He is one of three triplets who've played for the Slugs. He has a sister, Courtney and two brothers, Jared and Tyler.
