SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The UC Santa Cruz women's cross country team opened their 2026 campaign with an 11th place finish at the USF Invitational on a sunny afternoon in Golden Gate Park. The 11th place finish was headlined by Renee Khuong who dropped a 22:21.7 in her collegiate debut. The Banana Slugs ran well as a pack with their new squad finishing nearly side by side down the homestretch to end the day. As a team, the Slugs had an average time of 23:58 and a team time of 1:59:48, finishing the meet with 310 points. UC Santa Cruz will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 12 when they travel to the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational in Turlock, Ca.
