Troung leads the Slugs to a 2nd Place Finish at the UC Santa Cruz Invite

PACIFIC GROVE, Ca. — The UC Santa Cruz women's golf team finished second at the UC Santa Cruz Invite, posting a two-round total of +39 in the six-team field. Adeline Truong led the Banana Slugs with a two-round score of 74-74 (+4), finishing as the team's top individual performer across both days.
Adeline Truong paced the Banana Slugs in the first round with a 74 (+2), carding birdies on holes 10 and 14. Maya London shot a 76 (+4) with birdies on holes 10 and 18, while Olivia Lew also posted a 77 (+5) with a birdie on hole 5. Samantha Shaw carded an 82 (+10) with birdies on holes 1 and 11, and Shelly Areepitak rounded out the lineup with an 85 (+13). UCSC sat at +21 as a team after the opening round. The Banana Slugs improved in the second round, shooting +18 as a team to move up to second place. Truong led the charge again with a 74 (+2), recording birdies on holes 12 and 13. London posted a 77 (+5) with birdies on holes 15 and 17. Shaw bounced back with a strong 77 (+5), highlighted by a birdie on hole 14. Lew shot a 78 (+6) with birdies on holes 7, 8 and 9 on the front nine. Areepitak carded an 83 (+11). UCSC finished ahead of Redlands (+40), George Fox (+45), Cal Lutheran (+45) and Pomona-Pitzer (+47) in the team standings.
