
Slugs Drop Red Hawks in Saturday Senior Day Dual

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's swim and dive team celebrated senior day with a 227-34 victory over the Simpson Red Hawks on Saturday afternoon. The Banana Slugs will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 23 when they travel to Master's University.

- 200 Medley Relay: UC Santa Cruz started the day with a victory as Charlie Hussain, Kent Nishida, Andrew Koika, and Adam Sinclair combined for a time of 1:34.31.
- 1000 Free: Israel Gonzalez won the 1000 free with a time of 10:23.14.
- 200 Free: Asher Kates earned the win after touching the wall in 1:41.60.
- 100 Back: Kyle Reitan won the 100 back with a time of 51.65s.
- 100 Breast: Drake Howard was the top UCSC performer in the 100 breast, taking third overall with a 1:05.83.
- 200 Fly: Kaleb Wolfinger won the 200 fly with the only sub two minute time, touching the wall in 1:56.27.
- 50 Free: UCSC went 1-2-3 as Bryson Schmid won the event in 21.06 with Greyson Davies and Sebastian Santiago going 21.42s and 21.83s.
- 1m Dive: Eoin Hempenstall took first place with 224.70 points.
- 100 Free: Asher Kates picked up his second victory of the day with a time of 48.60s.
- 200 Back: Sam Caplan won the 200 back, touching the wall in 2:03.57.
- 200 Breast: Jude Robinson won the event in 2:09.29.
- 500 Free: Asher Kates continued to lead the way for UCSC, winning his third event of the day with a time of 4:53.95.
- 100 Fly: Lucas Blietz took first overall with a time of 53.96s.
- 3m Dive: Charlie Short earned the victory in the 3m dive, recording 226.73 points.
- 200 IM: Greyson Davies took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.82.
- 200 Free Relay: The 200 free relay team of Jude Robinson, Sebastian Santiago, Jack West, and Kent Nishida closed out the meet with a 1:27.76 to win the event.
