Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Espardinez and Anneet Lead UCSC to Victory Over Pacific

FOREST GROVE, Or. – The UC Santa Cruz women's soccer team earned their first win of the 2025 season in dominant fishing, putting up three goals against the Pacific Boxers at Hanson Stadium to earn the 3-0 victory. The Banana Slugs saw a beautiful upper ninety strike from Amaya Espardinez to get the scoring started with Camille Anneet finding the back of the net twice for the brace, giving UC Santa Cruz the 3-0 win. With the win, the Banana Slugs are now 1-1-1 and will be back in action on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. when they take on the Lewis and Clark Pioneers.

How It Happened
The fireworks came early in the first half with Amaya Espardinez opening the scoring at 9:18 before Camille Anneet doubled the lead at 12:43 with no hesitation. Espardinez rifled a shot from outside the 18 yard box and placed it in the upper left corner for the Banana Slugs first goal of the day. Anneet then stole the short pass on the back line from the center back before making a quick move and striking the back of the net. The Slugs peppered Pacific with shots with four in the opening half, including three on target.

In the second half, the Banana Slugs continued to assert themselves offensively, registering five shots with two on target. Anneet struck again at 59:01, assisted neatly by Tatiana Fernandez to wrap up the scoring. Fernandez and Anneet never gave up on a broken play at the end line with Fernandez flicking a pass high in the air in front of the goal mouth with Anneet there to put it home with no keeper in sight. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Ainsley Gove stood tall, stopping Pacific's only two shots on goal across the match to preserve the clean sheet.
