How It Happened
The Duhawks controlled pace of play early in the contest as they took four shots in the opening five minutes of play, hitting the crossbar just 41 seconds in before one shot was blocked while another was saved by Ainsley Gove. Loras outshot UC Santa Cruz 10-4 in the first half overall with Gove recording three saves while the Loras keeper was challenged with one shot on goal.

After a scoreless first half, the Duhawks ramped up the intensity, recording 15 shots to the Banana Slugs two. Gove recorded eight saves in the half and nearly had a clean shot across a full 90 but after a congested play in the box, the Duhawks managed to squeeze one past the backline and into the goal in the 88th to score the game winner, defeating UC Santa Cruz 1-0 on Thursday evening.
