SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – This morning, the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference announced the 2025 Women's Volleyball All-Conference awards and the Banana Slugs were honored with three All-C2C accolades in
Olly Gordon,
Kate Lau, and
Margo Melgoza.
The trio of
Olly Gordon,
Kate Lau, and
Margo Melgoza were all named to the All-C2C Volleyball Second Team. The Second Team honors are the second nods for
Olly Gordon and
Margo Melgoza who both earned Second Team selections in the 2024 season with
Margo Melgoza earning the C2C Rookie of the Year honor to highlight last year's awards.
Kate Lau All-Conference selections are the first of her career.
Olly Gordon earned their Second Team All-C2C honors as a middle blocker who recorded 74 total blocks with 45 block assists and 29 solo blocks through 88 sets played. Additionally, Gordon ranked third on the team in kills with 129 on the year with a 1.47 kills per set average, ending the regular season with a .223 hitting percentage.
Kate Lau earned Second Team honors as an outside hitter but was a standout all around performer for UC Santa Cruz this season. Lau recorded 123 kills on the year with a 1.34 kills per ser average while adding 21 service aces, 43 assists, and 279 digs, leading the team with a 3.03 digs per set average.
The reigning C2C Rookie of the Year,
Margo Melgoza, earned Second Team All-Conference honors for the second straight season as the team's leading setter. Melgoza played in 23 matches, dishing out 562 assists, good for a 6.53 assists per set average. Notably, Melgoza comfortably passed the 1,000 assist milestone in her second season with the Banana Slugs and contributed heavily at the service line, recording a team high 40 service aces on the year so far. Melgoza also ranked third on the team in digs with 171 overall with a 1.99 digs per set average. In addition to Melgoza's key facilitation of the offense, the sophomore setter recorded 60 kills during the regular season.
