SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz women's swim and dive team took second place at the 2025 Slug Shootout, finishing the weekend with 954.5 points, just narrowly behind Cal State East Bay who won the meet with 972.5 points. UC Santa Cruz will be back in action on Oct. 25 when they travel to the University of the Pacific.
In the Results
In the 3m dive, UC Santa Cruz saw
Paige Vicente earn the victory with 242.70 points while
Taylor O'Malley took second with 212.50. In similar fashion as yesterday's 1m competition, Vicente took the top spot in the program record books, this time in the 3m dive with a new 11-dive program record.
The UCSC 200 medley relay A and B team tied for fourth place as both squads clocked a 1:51.81 to get the day two action started.
Heather O'Brien later took fourth in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.33. In the 200 fly,
Maya Garcia-Hale swam to a fifth place finish, touching the wall in 2:13.73.
Kaitlyn Armstrong took sixth overall in the 50 back with a time of 28.39s. UC Santa Cruz had a strong showing in the 50 breast with
Sadie Breen, Lily Wolfinger, and
Maya Chan going 2-3 with Breen in second at 32.12 while Wolfinger and Chan tied for third in 32.20s.
Katy Hawk took second overall in the 100 free with a time of 53.73s. In the 200 IM,
Kirsten Boyle and
Maya Chan took fourth and fifth with times of 2:12.99 and 2:13.91.
Fiona Lei took fifth place in the 50 fly with a time of 27.43 seconds. In the 200 back,
Siena Ancona took sixth overall with a time of 2:14.74.
Maya Chan won the 200 breast after putting together a 2:29.65 performance while
Namya Sarup took third in 2:31.24. The 400 free relay team took second with a time of 3:38.91.
Ruby Sanchez was the top UCSC finisher, touching the wall in 18:47.82 to take ninth.
