REDLANDS, CA. – UC Santa Cruz extended their unbeaten streak with a 1-1 draw against the University of Redlands on Friday evening. A late goal from
Kotetsu Horike in the 85th minute secured the draw for the Banana Slugs, who now move to 4-0-4 on the season.
How It Happened
Redlands took the early advantage with a goal in the 23rd minute, putting UCSC on the back foot. Despite conceding, the Banana Slugs stayed aggressive, drawing five corners in the first half and getting three shots on target. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Chris Jamrock made two crucial saves to keep the score close going into halftime.
In the second half, UCSC ramped up their pressure, earning another three corners and holding Redlands to just two shots. The persistence paid off in the 85th minute when
Kotetsu Horike netted his second goal of the season to level the match at 1-1. Jamrock made another save to ensure the draw as the Banana Slugs left Redlands with another hard-earned point.
