SANTA CRUZ, CA. – UC Santa Cruz played a 1-1 draw against William Jessup University on Tuesday afternoon, maintaining their unbeaten streak with their fifth draw. A second-half goal by
Alessandro Castro helped the Banana Slugs level the game after trailing early.
How It Happened
The first half saw William Jessup take the lead in the 25th minute, but UCSC goalkeeper Chris Jamrock made two crucial saves to keep the game within reach. The Banana Slugs struggled to break through the Jessup defense, ending the half down 1-0.
UCSC came out with a much higher tempo in the second half, quickly creating opportunities. Their efforts paid off in the 56th minute when
Alessandro Castro found the back of the net from an assisted cross by
Kotetsu Horike, tying the game at 1-1. Despite continued pressure from Jessup, Jamrock came up big again with two more important saves, including one in the final minute, securing the 1-1 result.
