Box Score SANTA BARBARA (2-3) – The Banana Slugs wrapped up a five game road trip as they took on NCAA Division II Westmont College in Santa Barbara. The Warriors outscored the Banana Slugs by twenty-one in the second half en route to an 80-67 victory.

In the first half, the Banana Slugs opened the game on a 13-8 run capped by a
Nelson Etuk jumper. For the majority of the half, the Banana Slugs would hold a one possession lead. The Banana Slugs would gain their largest lead of the ballgame at nine, at 35-26, on a
Tyler Kessinger three pointer with 3:03 left in the half. The Banana Slugs led 39-31 at halftime.

In the second half, the Warriors would start the half on a 16-7 run to take the lead at 47-46 with 13:54 left. After the Warriors went up by four at 50-46, the Banana Slugs would go on a 5-0 run, capped by an Etuk layup with 12:33 left, to take the lead back at 51-50. From that point however, the Warriors would go on an 11-2 run, capped by an Aaron Wadman free throw with 9:45 left, to take the lead for good at 61-53.

Joseph Espy had a season-high twenty points to lead the Banana Slugs. Anthony McIntyre had a game high twenty-six points for the Warriors.
Caden Breznikar had twelve in the loss.

The Banana Slugs shot 44.3% (27-61) from the field, 31.3% (5-16) from the three-point line and were 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw line. UC Santa Cruz outrebounded Westmont 33-23 and the Banana Slugs outscored the Warriors by eighteen (34-16) in points off the bench.

The Banana Slugs will have their regular season finale on February 13
th as the Banana Slugs will take on Academy of Art University at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The game will serve as Senior Night and tip off is set for 7 pm.
