
Eight Banana Slugs earn national academic honors

NEW ORLEANS– Eight Banana Slugs were named National All Academic athletes for Cross Country as announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
It is the third year in a row at least eight Banana Slugs earned the distinction. Runners qualify for the award if they have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Four men and four women earned the award. On the men's side, Eric Anderson, Luke Holland, Raymond Ingersoll, and Eric Jackson were honored. It was the third consecutive year that Ingersoll was honored and a repeat award for both Jackson and Anderson.
NCAA Championship participants Hanna Hekkanen, Helena Janku, Riley Martel-Phillips and Elena Stanciu were honored on the women's side. It was the third year in a row that Martel-Phillips earned the award. Janku, the women's C2C Cross Country champion, earned the award for the second year in a row.
