Women's Volleyball stays perfect with sweep over Pipers

UC Santa Cruz finished off a perfect weekend with a three-set sweep over visiting Hamline University at the West Field House.Â
The Banana Slugs (5-0) took a little over an hour in the 25-14, 25-16, 25-9 victory over the Pipers. Drew Bryant and Kate Lau led the offense with eight kills each, while Sydney May had a team-high 15 assists. UC Santa Cruz hit .273 for the match, opening with a .424 hitting percentage in the first and never looking back. The Pipers hit -.008 on the day, with the Slugs delivering seven total blocks.  Â
Three Banana Slugs made their college debuts in the win. Makena Heidemann and Gabia Paliulis both got the start and each had four kills, with Heidemann contributing three block assists. Claudia Moeller had three kills.
The Banana Slugs next head out to Los Angeles for five matches against the SCIAC, beginning Wednesday evening at Caltech.
