UC Santa Cruz men's soccer used two goals in the last fifteen minutes to secure a wild 3-2 win over Lincoln on Tuesday afternoon.
The Banana Slugs (3-5-1) broke a three-game losing streak.
Â
UC Santa Cruz had three shots in the first eight minutes before finally scoring on their fourth shot. After ten minutes,
Adrian Jacobs finished
Tyler Allred's pass at the far post.
Lincoln responded in the 33rd minute with a near post finish of their own to tie it at
1-1. It took 30 minutes into the second half for the Banana Slugs to get on the scoreboard again. Defender
Max Beldner stole the ball at midfield and weaved through two Lincoln players before putting his shot in the back of the net to make it 2-1. Lincoln equalized again however with six minutes left on a counter.
Â
With time winding down, Allred got the last laugh with a low rocket free kick in the 86th minute for the game winner.
"After they scored, heads went down, but you can't stop fighting," Allred said. "You have to get one back. To get the game-winner in the last five minutes feels amazing."

The Banana Slugs had a 19-5 shot advantage over the Oaks. UC Santa Cruz returns to Division III competition with a trip this weekend to old rival Chapman.
