ATHERTON-- The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team edged out Menlo College 4-3 in a tight match played at Menlo College.
The hosts took the doubles matches, but under NAIA rules the three matches counted as one point. The Slugs then bounced back in the singles matches.
Natalie Sprenger of UCSC fought back after dropping the first set to beat Milana Hrudka of Menlo in three sets.
Meghana Damojipurapu of UCSC won a tight first-set tiebreaker before cruising to a straight-set victory over Lea Mocher of Menlo.
Tanner Rowland defeated Andrea Vlasceanu in a close match, winning the second set 5-4 after taking the first set 6-4.
Jolie Seemayer took the match when her opponent withdrew from the No. 6 singles match.
