CLAREMONT - UC Santa Cruz got some extra tennis in their 8-1 loss to ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
The Sagehens swept the doubles matches, which didn't finish until the duo of Eshaan Lumba and Matthew Feng survived
Sam Hall and
Andre Mardirossian 8-7 on a tiebreaker. Lumba and Feng entered the Spring as the eighth-ranked doubles pair in the country.
In singles play, the Banana Slugs took four of the six matches to a tiebreaker or third set. Hall and his Pomona counterpart Kush Patel battled for over 90 minutes before Patel edged Hall on a tiebreaker. The match finished with
Praneet Varade securing UC Santa Cruz a point at No. 4 after his match with Ethan Lee went two hours.
UC Santa Cruz finishes the roadtrip on Monday against Occidental College.
