UC Santa Cruz Women's Soccer finished today's match against Pacific Union with a win of 4-0.

The Banana Slugs had a great game today and played with high intensity. After kickoff, the Banana Slugs made many good plays and had many good shots on the goal. At the beginning of the match a pass from
Sydney Boyd to
Camille Anneet resulted in Anneet's beautiful shot, but the Pioneer keeper saved the shot. However, in the 18
th minute, Anneet sent over an outstanding cross to
Amaya Espardinez, who scored on a volley making the score 1-0!

With the Banana Slugs having possession most of the game, they continued to send balls through the 18-yard box, yet the Pioneer's keeper made some outstanding saves. In the 23
rd minute there was a one-two play that led to a goal by Boyd, who shot the goal outside the box and went right over the goalie's head with an assist from Espardinez, making the score 2-0. The Banana Slugs continued to keep possession and get the ball in the goal. In the last couple minutes of the half, Boyd made a cross to
Alexandra Torres, who one-touched it to
Caitlin Walters who finished and made the score 3-0. It was Walter's first career goal.

The second half started with the Banana Slugs continuing to keep possession and stay on the Pioneers' side. Pacific Union was finally able to shoot their first shot at the goal in the 58
th minute but
Amelia Brown saved the shot. Many of the Banana Slugs were finishing those shots on goal. The first goal of the second half was from Boyd, who had a 1v1 with the keeper with an assist from Anneet who set up the beautiful play making the score 4-0 with under six minutes left.

The Banana Slugs finished with a 24-4 shot advantage and 4-0 corner kick advantage. UC Santa Cruz's next match will be against Lincoln University this Wednesday at the Lower East Field.
