UC Santa Cruz Women's Soccer finished today's match against Lincoln University with a win of 8-0.
 
UC Santa Cruz improved to 7-2-2 after their sixth consecutive win and fifth home win. This game was 
Mia Linville, 
Lauren McGuire, and 
Tatiana Fernandez's first time starting this season.
 
Right at the start of the game, the Slugs were keeping possession of the ball and making great plays! 
Amaya Espardinez set up a beautiful cross to 
Eissa Quinones, and Quinones had an excellent finish for the first goal of the game at 16:35. In the last couple of minutes of the first half, the Banana Slugs made back-to-back goals. It started off with a beautiful goal that gently kissed the crossbar before going into the net by 
Rylie Van Kleek, who was assisted by 
Sydney Boyd (2-0, 42:34). Another goal by 
Kathleen Byambasuren who also had a beautiful shot now making the score 3-0 (43:32). And the final goal in the last minute before the end of the half by 
Michelle Matta and an assist from Byambasuren (4-0, 44:52). This half was outstanding and was Van Kleek and Byambasuren's first career goals of the season
 
The second half started with high intensity. Right at the beginning of the second half, 
Kristi Truong had a 1v1 with the keeper and added another one to the scoreboard with an assist from 
Amanda Scott (5-0, 53:57).
 
It was an intense match with many fouls being called. The Banana Slugs had a free kick that defender 
Angela Bradbury took from 40 yards. It was a beautiful shot and made it right to the goal, yet the Lincoln keeper saved the goal. After that play, 
Camille Anneet made an outstanding goal from a cross by 
Chelyn Ackerman, who received a perfect pass from Truong that made it 6-0 at 71:48. A minute later, Van Kleek made another goal from another assist from Ackerman who set up the play from a flawless cross (7-0, 72:37). The final goal was from 
Lili Loney, who had a 1v1 with the keeper (8-0, 80:32). Truong, Anneet. and Loney each scored their first goal of the season!
The Banana Slugs finished with 31 shots to six by Lincoln.
 
UC Santa Cruz's next match will be against Chapman University in Orange Saturday at 11:00 AM.
