VENTURA - Andre Mardirossian went 1-1 on Saturday to make the men's singles semifinals at The Ojai Tournament.
Third-seeded Mardirossian opened his day with a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6 [10-6] victory over Southwestern's Steven Tibbets, becoming the third Banana Slug in the last four Ojai Tournaments to make the final four. He then faced Claremont-Mudd's Ethan Carroll and played another exciting match before falling 7-6(1), 1-6, 0-1 [10-4].

The busy Mardirossian then teamed with David Jackson for another semifinal match that went the distance. However, the duo fell to Ethan Ha and Logan Thompson of Westmont in the Independent Doubles bracket by a score of 5-7, 6-3, 1-6.
"Great tournament though. We made it to the semis in three draws," said head coach Jimmy Soper. "Our freshman Praneet Varade made it to the semis in the independent draw before losing in three sets to a player from Westmont. It was a great opportunity for growth and great preparation as we look ahead at the conference tournament."

Andrew Tjoa and Lucas Chen lost in the consolation doubles semifinals 8-7(2) to Mac Caldwell and Caleb Wilkins of Chapman. However, Chen won a pair of matches in the Singles Consolation bracket. He first defeated Caldwell 6-3, 6-1 and beat Letourneau's Julian Lee 3-6, 7-6(4) [10-7] before falling to Redlands's Donovan Lilov in the Consolation Final Sunday morning.
