WHITTIER - No. 31 UC Santa Cruz swept the three doubles matches and then pushed through a wild time at Singles to win 6-3 at Whittier on Wednesday.
The Banana Slugs improved to 6-4 in duals this season and bounced back after Monday's loss to sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins.
The Banana Slugs opened with three hard-fought doubles points, topped off by
David Jackson and
Andre Mardirossian winning at No. 3 8-7 after a 7-4 win on the tie breaker. Mardirossian then had another barn-burner at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0 7-6 (6). It was Mardirossian's return after being rested on Monday with a minor injury.
The other five singles all had some extra play, but both
Sam Hall and Jackson won their three-set matches to clinch the dual win for the Banana Slugs.Â
UC Santa Cruz continues their Spring Break trip with a matchup against No. 12 Tufts Thursday at the Palm Desert Country Club.
