WESTLAKE VILLAGE - No. 31 UC Santa Cruz opened their Spring Break trip to Southern California with a 9-0 loss to sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins at the Westlake Athletic Club.

In the last two matches, Andrew Tjoa had a classic at No. 3 singles before dropping it 6-7(3), 3-6. Meanwhile, transfer Jay Pandit had his UC Santa Cruz debut, playing a hard-fought match at No. 6 singles with the Blue Jays' Marco Azar that also went to a tie-breaker 4-6, 6-7.

UC Santa Cruz continues their trip when they play at Whittier on Wednesday.
