– UC Santa Cruz finished up their four-match Wisconsin trip with two matches Saturday morning against Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Banana Slugs won both matches against the Warriors 3-0.

In the first set, the Banana Slugs started the set on a 5-1 run, capped by a
Colton Jeffrey kill. The Warriors would respond with an 8-3 run to take the lead at 9-8. The two teams would trade points for the next seventeen serves. The Banana Slugs would take the lead for good at 18-17 on a
Phillip Grote kill and won the first set 25-19. In the second set, the Banana Slugs would start on a 10-4 run capped by a
Dylan Foreman kill. The Banana Slugs would gain their largest lead of the set at twelve, at set point 25-13, on a Foreman kill. The Banana Slugs started the third set on a 17-4 run capped by a Grote kill before winning the set and match at 25-8 on a
Xander Vriesman kill.

Vriesman led the Banana Slugs with a season-high eleven kills. Foreman added ten.

In the first set, after the teams traded points for the first ten serves, the Banana Slugs had an 11-1 run, capped by an attack error by the Warriors, to take the lead for good at 16-6. The Banana Slugs won the set at 25-10, on an assisted block by
Braden Collins and Vriesman.
In the second set, the Banana Slugs started on an 11-4 run capped by an
Ethan Makishima kill. The Banana Slugs led as much as thirteen and would win the second set 25-13 for a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, the Banana Slugs started the set on a 9-3 run capped by a service error by the Warriors. The Warriors would come as close as three, at 13-10, but the Banana Slugs finished on a 12-3 run and took the match on a service ace by
Chicory Roth.

Makishima had eleven kills and three blocks to lead the Banana Slugs. Collins had 20 assists while Roth dished a career-high 19.
UC Santa Cruz returns to California and will next play at Menlo College on Saturday the 13th.
