LA VERNE- Ronaldo Nava's 22nd minute header gave UC Santa Cruz the only goal it would need in a 1-0 win at La Verne.
The Banana Slugs improve to 3-7-3 and split their weekend L.A. roadtrip.

Nava got on the end of a pass from Luca Bravo to head the ball into the net from eight yards away. It was the senior forward's first goal of the year. Paolo Santiago almost doubled the lead eight minutes before halftime with a shot after a sixty-yard run, but it was pushed out for a corner.
UC Santa Cruz controlled possession in the second half and allowed the Leopards just two shots in the final 45 minutes. Overall, the Banana Slugs had an 11-4 shot advantage in the game. Goalkeeper Arman Salimi had two saves for his second shutout win in the past three games.

UC Santa Cruz returns to the Lower East Field on Wednesday when the host William Jessup at 3:00pm.
