REDLANDS - The Banana Slugs men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss this weekend in a tight game against Division III team University of Redlands. The Slugs were on the road again for the third time this October in their 2-7-2 overall record.

UC Santa Cruz had a tough start with an own-goal giving Redlands an early lead within the first ten minutes. The team retaliated with several shots on goal in the following minutes, but the shots were defended by Redlands goalie Seth Lawrence. The teams traded shots and fouls, creating an exciting, nail-biting evening.
UC Santa Cruz came out for vengeance in the second period scoring a quick goal against the Bulldogs.
Caleb Lee, sophomore midfielder, assisted first year forward
Tyler Allred in his goal against Redlands to tie the game. Allred, in a show of young talent, cut the ball to his right foot and shot from the middle.
In a devastating turn of events, University of Redlands got a penalty kick against the Slugs in the 63rd minute of the game. The Banana Slugs did not let Redlands win easily.

Itay Rabinovich continuing to attack the Redlands goal in the last minutes of the game in hopes of pulling out a win for the Banana Slugs. Redlands and UC Santa Cruz both had 6 shots on goal in the second half of this close game.
Arman Salimi had five saves total for the Banana Slugs, who finish their roadtrip Sunday night at La Verne.
