Eric Jackson repeats as men's champ with new school record

SALISBURY, MARYLAND - For the second-straight year, the Banana Slugs ran the fastest.
Both nationally-ranked Banana Slug squads repeated as C2C Conference Champions on a beautiful fall day in Eastern Maryland.
The 22nd-ranked women finished with a score of 18 after taking five of the top six slots. Christopher Newport was in second with 49 points.Riley Martel-Phillips won the C2C Individual title after crossing the line in 21:42.1. It was her third-straight sub 22:00 6K this fall.
First-Year Faith Dyogi ran a PR of 21:48.2 to place second. Ash Baudin led a trio of Banana Slugs in the 4-5-6 spots with a time of 21:59. Iris Abegglen was 7.8 seconds later and Helena Janku crossed in 22:07.6.
Martel-Phillips (L) and Dyogi went 1-2 to lead UCSC at the C2C meet Cheryl Chuang (9th, 22:27.3), Andrea Gallardo (11th 22:28.7), Hanna Hekkanen (13th, 22:39.6), Sage Simms (14th, 22:53.2) and Monica Fonseca (16th, 23:12.3) all made Second Team All-Conference with their finishes.
For the men, Eric Jackson repeated as Conference Champion with a finish of 24:15.1. That improved his own school-record set two weeks ago by 6.3 seconds, and over 10 seconds ahead of runner-up Nathaniel Ferrante of CNU. Oliver Chang was third with a new PR of 24:28.9, while Luke Holland also achieved a PR to place fourth in 24:31.4. Casey Orton led a pack of six Banana Slugs to cross next, finishing 6th in 24:47.6. Eric Anderson was 7th 0.9 seconds back, Walter Teitelbaum was 8th in 24:50.2, and Brett Bailey was 9th in 24:56.9. Hayden Johnson (25:03.9) and Raymond Ingersoll (25:07.4) were 10th and 11th respectively.
Overall, No. 25 UC Santa Cruz tallied 21 points to out pace second-place CNU who scored 51. Salisbury was third in both the men's and women's races.
The squads look to keep the momentum going when they travel to the NCAA Regional in two weeks.
