ORANGE- UC Santa Cruz put up a valiant fight today on enemy turf against Chapman University who won 2-1 against the Banana Slugs. The game ended a 4-game winning streak for the Banana Slugs, who are 6-8-3 so far this season. The Banana Slugs routinely win against Chapman, with a historical 16 wins against them, letting Chapman have only 7.
Chapman scored a quick goal by Garretto Lindfelt to take the lead within the first 10 minutes of the game. The Banana Slugs retaliated with multiple shots on goal from senior player
Ronaldo Nava, putting pressure on Chapman's defense until they
fractured with an own goal in the 26th minute. The Banana Slugs played spectacular defense the rest of the half holding off Chapman from getting another goal. The first period held an intensity with both teams receiving yellow cards and trading fouls. The Banana Slugs were clearly not going to go down without a fight.

Arman Salimi defended the net successfully. Chapman however scored again near the end of the game pulling a tough win out against Santa Cruz.
Overall, the Slugs had 6 shot attempts on their opponents and both teams were high in fouls. The fouls reflected the high intensity each team displayed with the Slugs having 11 and Chapman accumulating 14. The Slugs have their last home game next Friday at 3:00pm against Simpson University where they will be honoring their seniors.
