Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fernandez brace leads UC Santa Cruz over Lincoln

First Year has a goal in each half in 3-0 victory

Tatiana Fernandez scored a goal in each half and Karina Bulli added another as UC Santa Cruz dispatched Lincoln University of Oakland 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

UC Santa Cruz improves to 8-3-2 after their second win over the Oaks in three days.

The Banana Slugs picked up where they left off from their last onslaught against the visitors. UC Santa Cruz had seven shots in the first fifteen minutes. Amanda Scott had three of them and came close to the opening score in the 14th minute after her shot hit the woodwork. Fernandez finally broke through for UC Santa Cruz in the 29th minute, when she got on the end of a long pass from Julia Hernandez, raced past a defender, and let out a low shot that stylishly hit both posts before rolling into the goal.

UC Santa Cruz doubled the lead a little over five minutes later, when Bulli got on the end of Kayla Alexander's pass that sprung her one-on-one on the goalkeeper before converting. Fernandez completed her first multi-goal game as a Banana Slug twelve minutes into the second half finishing off a long run.

UC Santa Cruz continued the pressure and had a big possession advantage the rest of the half before the sun set on an exciting day of soccer. The Banana Slugs finished with a 27-3 shot advantage.

Makenna Curtis finished with a save for the shutout. Sharyn Enriquez, a goalkeeper with national caps for Belize, finished with seven saves for Lincoln.

UC Santa Cruz travels to L.A. this weekend to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday morning.
