SANTA CLARA - UC Santa Cruz's men's tennis squad shook off the rust by playing Division I Santa Clara to open their spring dual season.
The Banana Slugs pushed their hosts in all nine matches before falling 7-0.
"They fought hard and showed great potential," said head coach
Jimmy Soper. "I'm looking forward to the season ahead!"
The Broncos swept the three doubles matches to take the meet's first point.

Andre Mardirossian forced the Broncos to a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles before dropping the match 7-5.
Each of the singles matches were straight sets. In his college dual debut,
Sam Hall almost pulled out a win at No. 5 before falling 4-6, 5-7.
Lucas Chen and Mardirossian also pushed the Broncos' top international players at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively.
The Banana Slugs are next scheduled to host Norcal powerhouse American River College on Saturday February 5th.
