Payton Cichowski had her first career hat-trick on her first 3 shots of the game as UC Santa Cruz beat NorCal neighbors Mills College 10-0 on Saturday morning.
UC Santa Cruz improved to 3-7-2 on the year to close a five-game homestand.
Cichowski scored in the 4th, 16th and 25th minutes to give the Banana Slugs their first three goals.
Celine Ertekin made it 4-0 off an assist from
Amanda Scott about a minute later.
Chella Grattet won a penalty in the 33rd minute and then finished the spot kick herself to the lower right.
Caitlin Pieper made it 6-0 before the half when she put away a rebound after
Rainie Dabbs's shot spilled in front of her.
The Banana Slugs added four more goals in the second half, starting with Ertekin's second in the 54th after she finished a cross from
Julia Hernandez. Hernandez added one of her own a minute later, and Grattet made it 9-0 in the 66th after a steal and a 20 yard blast.
Ana Villa completed scoring in the 69th with her first career goal, after being fed by fellow newcomer
Marianna Chavez at the top of the box.
Overall, UC Santa Cruz had a 41-0 shot advantage against the short-handed Cyclones, who only had three substitutes on the bench. Mills goalkeeper Anais Uriarte had 12 saves. Her Banana Slug counterpart
Samantha Coelho got the shutout in her first career start.
