Men's Basketball close regular season with tough loss at St. Katherine

OCEANSIDE, CA (2-22) UC Santa Cruz traveled to sunny Oceanside on Saturday to take on Saint Katherine's University (15-10) for the final game of the regular season, preceding the ACAA Tournament. Struggling to keep up with the Firebirds on the scoreboard, the Slugs had a difficult time getting a lead, losing to the Firebirds 52-76.
The Firebirds opened the game on a 10-1 run, and led by 22 at the half (36-14).
The Slugs started the second half strong with a 9-2 run, beginning with a jumper from Sam Nangle and a 3-pointer from Treyson Keating. However, the Slugs couldn't catch up to the Firebirds fast enough to close the gap.
Patrick Ramos was high scorer for the Slugs with 10 points, adding 3 assists as well. Keating put up 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in his first start. Will Whitty, JM Johnson, and Tyler Kessinger each contributed 6 points off the bench. Nygil Carr led USK with 21 points.
The Slugs (11-14) will travel to Delhi, New York this upcoming weekend to participate in the ACAA tournament, with their first game against Pine Manor on Saturday the 29th.
