Box Score THOUSAND OAKS (1-25) A hot shooting night from the hosts led to a comeback as Cal Lutheran edged UC Santa Cruz 63-59 in men's basketball.
UC Santa Cruz (8-13) saw their three-game winning streak broken as Cal Lutheran (3-14) went 10-26 (38.5%) from long range for the game, including 7-14 in the second half.
UC Santa Cruz led by two at the half. With Cal Lutheran within 1 at 33-32, the Slugs went on a 9-0 run courtesy of "And-1" plays by Patrick Ramos and Treyson Keating and punctuated by an Eric Siegel three-pointer to take a 42-32 with 13:42 left in the game. Another Siegel three with 12:23 left pushed the lead to 47-34 and forced a Cal Lutheran timeout.
The Kingsmen answered with their own three-point run to take the lead at 61-58 with under a minute left, and Lachlan Hannemann's two free-throws with 8.2 left provided the final margin.
Ramos had 16 points and four assists, moving past Stacy Shoemaker for seventh on the school career charts with 195. Avri FInch and Siegel each had 12 points.
Brooks Mallory led the Kingsmen with 12 points, all on three-pointers.
The Banana Slugs return home for Senior Day next Saturday at Kaiser Permanente Arena when they take on Cal Miramar University.
