CLAREMONT, CA (March 29) – The Banana Slugs finished their trip to Southern California as they took on ITA/NCAA Division III #4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont. The Stags won every single match that was played and won 9-0.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost 6-3 to Colby College on Wednesday in Claremont while the Stags defeated ITA/NCAA Division III #1 University of Chicago 6-3 earlier today in Claremont earlier today.
The Stags won all six singles matches. Two matches – the #1 singles match between ITA/NCAA Division III #2 Chad Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and the #2 singles match between Ryan Dugan of UCSC and Casey Morris of the Stags –both ended with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps representatives winning 6-2, 6-2. In the tightest singles match of the day, the Stags' Avinash Vemuri defeated the Banana Slugs' David Jackson in the #5 singles match, 6-4, 6-2.
The tightest of the three doubles matches was the #1 doubles match between the Banana Slugs' nationally ranked duo of Dugan and Le Duff vs. the Stags' Julian Gordy and Parodi. Gordy and Parodi narrowly defeated Dugan and Le Duff 8-7 (7-4).
