ORANGE, CA (March 25) – The Banana Slugs traveled to Orange to take on Chapman University for the second match of a season long seven-match road trip. The Banana Slugs won four singles matches and defeated the host Panthers 6-3 overall.

Both teams lost their last match. The Banana Slugs lost 7-2 to ITA/NCAA Division III #4 Emory University yesterday in Pomona while the Panthers lost 7-2 to ITA/NCAA Division III #36 Hobart College in Orange on Monday.

The Banana Slugs won four singles matches while the Panthers won two. In the #1 singles match between the Banana Slugs' Chad LeDuff and Jacob Lee of Chapman, LeDuff defeated Lee 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. In the #2 singles match between Ryan Dugan of the Banana Slugs and Len Kamemoto of the Panthers, Dugan defeated Kamemoto 7-5, 6-4. In the #5 singles match between David Jackson of UC Santa Cruz and Luke Bennett of Chapman, Jackson defeated Bennett 6-4, 6-3. In the #3 singles match between Kris Harris of the Banana Slugs and Adrien Rooney of the Panthers, Rooney defeated Harris 6-1, 6-2. In the #4 singles match between Yaro Yanin of UC Santa Cruz and Igor Belineli of Chapman, Belineli defeated Yanin 6-4, 7-5. In the tightest singles match of the day the Banana Slugs' Ryan Gee defeated the Panthers' Brock DeHaven 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. ..

The Banana Slugs won two of the three doubles matches. In the #1 doubles match between the Banana Slugs' nationally ranked Dugan and LeDuff and Lee and Rooney of Chapman, the Slugs defeated Lee and Rooney 8-5. The other two doubles matches were closely contested as the #2 doubles match between the Banana Slugs' Gee and Harris and Kamemoto and Mead of Chapman and the #3 doubles match between the Banana Slugs' Jackson and Yanin and DeHaven and Manditch of the Panthers both ended with an 8-6 score. The Banana Slugs' Jackson and Yanin won the #3 doubles match and Kamemoto and Mead won the #2 doubles match.
