Women's tennis drops meet to Regals 6-3

The third time was not the charm for UC Santa Cruz. Finally getting to host Cal Lutheran after the previous two scheduled meet days were cancelled because of huge rainfall in Santa Cruz county, the visitors rallied to win the dual meet 6-3.

The Slugs started out strong with 2-1 lead after doubles play. Sabrina Lieu and Therese Recidoro made quick work at No. 3 doubles while Ashley Isaac and Savana McDowell teamed for the first time this season and won 8-5 at No. 1.

However the Regals rallied to win the next five singles matches to comeback for the meet win. Four of the five losses were in straight sets with Vivian Lee being edged in a tie breaker at No. 5 after rallying to take set two.

McDowell won UCSC's only singles point at No. 6 in a thrilling tie-breaker.

The Banana Slugs take a week off for finals before hosting NAIA power Westmont on Saturday the 23rd.
