PASADENA (2-16) – The ITA/NCAA Division III #31 Banana Slugs traveled to Pasadena for their second match of the day as they took on ITA/NCAA Division III #32 California Institute of Technology. The Beavers won 9-0 over the Banana Slugs.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost 5-4 to Whittier College earlier today in Whittier. The Beavers were playing their first match of the season after an 11-7 season in 2018.
The Beavers won all six singles matches that were played. The tightest singles matches of the day were the #1 singles match between Chad Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Varun Shanker of California Tech and the #5 singles match between Ryan Gee of the Banana Slugs and Kevin Yu of the Beavers. Shanker and Yu each won their matches 6-3, 6-1.
The Beavers won all three doubles matches. The tightest doubles match was the #3 doubles match between Dugan and Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz vs. Shanker and Wei of California Tech, whichShanker and Wei won 8-7 (6).
