SANTA CLARA (1-27) – The ITA/NCAA Division III #31 Banana Slugs played their first match of the calendar year as they took on NCAA Division I member Santa Clara University. The Broncos defeated the Banana Slugs 7-0.

Both teams lost their last match. The Banana Slugs lost 7-2 to Pacific University on October 17^th in Forest Grove while the Broncos lost 5-0 to Stanford University on January 15^th in Palo Alto.

The Broncos won all six singles matches. In the #2 singles match between Ryan Dugan of UC Santa Cruz and Connor Garnett of Santa Clara, Garnett defeated Dugan 6-2, 6-1. In the #3 singles match between Kris Harris of the Banana Slugs and Arthur Neuhaus of the Broncos, Neuhaus defeated Harris 6-0, 6-3. In the #4 singles match between David Jackson of UC Santa Cruz and Robert Seby of Santa Clara, Seby defeated Jackson 6-0, 6-0. In the #5 singles match between Sarthak Saxena of the Banana Slugs and Santiago Hinojosa of the Broncos, Hinojosa defeated Saxena 6-0, 6-2. In the #6 singles match between Ryan Gee of UC Santa Cruz and Kamran Khan of Santa Clara, Khan defeated Gee 6-2, 6-1. The tightest singles match of the day was the #1 singles match between Chad Le Duff of the Banana Slugs and Andrew Gu of the Broncos. Gu defeated Le Duff 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-4).

The Broncos won two doubles matches.  In the #3 doubles match between Jackson and Saxena of the Banana Slugs and Garnett and Seby of the Broncos, Garnett and Seby defeated Jackson and Saxena 6-0. The tightest match was the #2 doubles match between Gee and Harris of UC Santa Cruz and Vasileios Iliopoulos and Neuhaus of Santa Clara, Iliopoulos and Neuhaus defeated Gee and Harris 6-1. Dugan and Le Duff were up 5-4 in the No. 1 doubles before the fixture was abandoned because of the doubles point being won.
