POMONA (3-24) – The Banana Slugs opened their spring break road trip as they took on Division III #14 Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona. The Banana Slugs won one singles match but lost the dual match 8-1.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost 7-0 to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on March 4th in San Luis Obispo while the Poets won 7-2 over California Lutheran University in Pomona earlier today.
The Sagehens won five singles matches while the Banana Slugs won one. In the #3 singles match between Chad Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Josh Gearou of Pomona-Pitzer, Stone defeated Gearou 6-2, 7-6.
The Sagehens won all three doubles matches that were played. The tightest doubles match was the #2 doubles match between Flora and Ibh of UC Santa Cruz and Avery Bicks and Mandic of Pomona-Pitzer the Pomona pair won 9-7.
The next match for the Banana Slugs will be Monday as they take on NCAA Division III/ITA Tennis #4 Middlebury College in Claremont. The first serve is set for 10 am.
