FOREST GROVE (3-30) – The Banana Slugs completed their three match trip in Oregon as they took on Pacific University in Forest Grove. The Boxers won 8-1 over the Banana Slugs.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs won 8-1 over Willamette University in Forest Grove on Tuesday while the Boxers lost 5-4 to Colorado College in Forest Grove on March 19th.
The Boxers won all six singles matches. In the #2 singles match between Vera Smekalina of UC Santa Cruz and Danielle du Plooy of Pacific, du Plooy defeated Smekalina 7-5, 6-1. In the #3 singles match between Ashley Brudzinski of the Banana Slugs and Chantelle Baclay of the Boxers, Baclay defeated Brudzinski 6-2, 6-3. In the #4 singles match between Zoë Brook of UC Santa Cruz and Sophia Nishimura of Pacific, Nishimura defeated Brook 6-3, 6-0. In the #5 singles match between Marissa Hayashi of the Banana Slugs and Claire Stoner of the Boxers, Hayashi defeated Stoner 6-3, 7-5. In the #6 singles match between Danielle Aparicio of UC Santa Cruz and Johanna Wilson of UC Santa Cruz, Wilson defeated Aparicio 6-4, 6-0. The tightest singles match of the day was the #1 singles match between Sylvia Brummitt of the Banana Slugs and Kaitlyn Lomartire of Pacific. Lomartire defeated Brummitt 7-6, 6-3.
The Boxers won two doubles matches while the Banana Slugs won one. In the #2 doubles match between Brook and Brudzinski of UC Santa Cruz and Lomartire and Wilson of Pacific, Lomartire and Wilson defeated Brook and Brudzinski 8-2. In the #3 doubles match between Brummitt and Callie Matthews of the Banana Slugs and Hayashi and Mai Kobayashi of the Boxers, Hayashi and Kobayashi defeated and Brummitt and Matthews 8-4. The tightest doubles match was the #1 doubles match where Smekalina and Claire Stoner of UC Santa Cruz defeated du Plooy and Nishimura 8-6.
