PASADENA (3-26) – The Banana Slugs played their second match in as many days as they took on California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. The Banana Slugs won 7-2 over the Beavers to break a two match losing streak

Both teams lost their last match. The Banana Slugs lost 9-0 to ITA/NCAA Division III #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps yesterday in Claremont while the Beavers lost 7-2 to Colby College in Pasadena on Friday.

The Banana Slugs won four singles matches while the Beavers won two. In the #2 singles match between Chad Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Andre Liu of California Tech, Le Duff defeated Liu 6-1, 6-0. In the #3 singles match between Sean Hollister of the Banana Slugs and Derik Nguyen of the Beavers, Hollister defeated Nguyen 6-1, 6-1. In the #3 singles match between AJ Flora of UC Santa Cruz and Zixao Li of California Tech, Flora defeated Li 6-0, 6-2. In the #5 singles match between Ryan Dugan of UC Santa Cruz and Miha Valencic of Calfornia Tech, Valencic defeated Dugan 6-1, 6-1. In the #6 singles match between Ryan Gee of the Banana Slugs and Sathwick Pathireddy of the Beavers, Pathireddy defeated Gee 6-2, 6-4. The tightest singles match of the day was the #1 singles match between Chadwick Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Ruthwick Pathireddy of California Tech. Stone defeated Pathireddy 7-5, 6-4.

The Banana Slugs won all three doubles matches. In the #1 doubles match between Dugan and Stone of the Banana Slugs and Ruthwick Pathireddy and Sathwick Pathireddy of the Beavers, Dugan and Stone defeated Pathireddy and Pathireddy 8-2. The tightest doubles matches were the #2 doubles match between Hollister and Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Li and Nguyen of California Tech and the #3 doubles match between Flora and Levchenko of the Banana Slugs and Miha Valencic and Tine Valencic of the Beavers. Each match had the Banana Slugs' representatives winning 8-4.
