CLAREMONT (3-22) – The Banana Slugs played their second match against ITA NCAA Division III Top 25 competition as they took on ITA NCAA Division III #4 University of Chicago in Claremont. The Maroons won all singles matches and won the match 7-2.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost 8-1 to ITA NCAA Division III #22 Tufts University yesterday in Claremont while the Maroons defeated ITA NCAA Division III #25 Stevens Institute of Technology 5-4 yesterday in Claremont.
The Maroons won all six singles matches. In the #1 singles match between Adrian Sirovica of UC Santa Cruz and Nicolas Chua of University of Chicago, Chua defeated Sirovica 6-2, 6-3. In the #2 singles match between Chad Le Duff of the Banana Slugs and Charlie Pei of the Maroons, Pei defeated Le Duff 6-3, 6-2. In the #4 singles match between Ryan Dugan of UC Santa Cruz and Peter Leung of University of Chicago, Leung defeated Dugan 6-2, 6-1. In the #5 singles match between Derek Levchenko of the Banana Slugs and Max Liu of the Maroons, Liu defeated Levchenko 6-3, 6-1. In the #6 singles match between James Soper of UC Santa Cruz and Luke Tsai of University of Chicago, Tsai defeated Soper 6-1, 6-1. The tightest singles match of the day was the #3 singles match between Chadwick Stone of the Banana Slugs and David Liu of the Maroons. Liu defeated Stone 7-5, 6-3.
The Banana Slugs won two doubles matches while the Maroons won one. In the #2 doubles match between Dugan and Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Leung and Pei of University of Chicago, Dugan and Stone defeated Leung and Pei 8-6. In the #1 doubles match between Alexander Flora and Sirovica of UC Santa Cruz and Chua and David Liu of Tufts, Chua and Liu defeated Flora and Sirovica 8-3. The tightest doubles match was the #3 doubles match between Hollister and Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Bobby Bethke and Tsai of University of Chicago. Hollister and Le Duff defeated Bethke and Tsai 9-7.
The next match for the Banana Slugs is tomorrow as they take on Colby College in Claremont. The match time is set for 10 am.
