SANTA CRUZ (2-20) – The Banana Slugs played their second match of the week as they took on Chapman University in Santa Cruz. The Banana Slugs would win five out of six singles matches as they won 7-2.

Both teams lost their last match. In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost to Holy Names University 6-3 last Sunday in Santa Cruz while the Panthers lost 9-0 to Brandeis College on Tuesday in Orange.

The Banana Slugs won five singles matches while the Panthers won one. In the #1 singles match between Chad Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Bret Buford, Stone defeated Buford 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). In the #2 singles match between Chad Le Duff of the Banana Slugs and Sam Mitteldorf of the Panthers, Le Duff defeated Mitteldorf 6-3, 6-2. In the #3 singles match between Kyle Richter of UC Santa Cruz and Charlie Werman of Chapman, Richter defeated Werman 5-0 as Werman retired due to an injury. In the #5 singles match between Ryan Dugan of the Banana Slugs and Brock DeHaven of the Panthers, Dugan defeated DeHaven 6-3, 6-0. In the #6 singles match between Derek Levchenko of UC Santa Cruz and Chris Damion of Chapman, Levchenko defeated Damion 6-4, 6-0. The tightest singles match of the day was the #4 singles match between Adrian Sirovica of UC Santa Cruz and Hunter Morris of Chapman. Morris defeated Sirovica 6-1, 6-7, 7-5 (10-8).

The Banana Slugs won two doubles matches while the Panthers won one. In the #1 doubles match between ITA NCAA Division III #8 Richter and Sirovica of the Banana Slugs and Buford and Werman of Chapman, Richter and Sirovica defeated Buford and Werman 8-5. In the #2 doubles match between Alexander Flora and Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Damion and Sarsfield of Chapman, Flora and Stone defeated Damion and Sarsfield 8-6. The tightest doubles match was the #3 doubles match between of Dugan and Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Mathew Mead and Hunter Morris of Chapman. Dugan and Le Duff defeated Mead and Morris 9-8 (5).
