CLAREMONT, CA -- For the second consecutive match, the Banana Slugs played another top 25 team in the ITA NCAA Division III rankings as they took on ITA NCAA Division III #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont. The Stags swept the match with the Banana Slugs as they won 9-0.

Both teams lost their last match. UC Santa Cruz lost 6-3 to Middlebury College on Monday in Whittier while the Stags were defeated by the University of Pennsylvania 6-1 on Saturday in Philadelphia. 

The Stags won all six singles matches. In the #1 singles match, ITA NCAA Division III #12 Warren Wood of Claremont Mudd Scripps defeated Max Littlejohn of UC Santa Cruz 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. In the #3 singles match, ITA NCAA Division III #10 Nikolas Marino of the Stags defeated Sean Hollister of the Banana Slugs 6-3, 6-1. In the #4 singles match, Joe Dorn of Claremont Mudd Scripps defeated Alexander Flora of UC Santa Cruz 6-4, 6-3. In the #5 singles match, Daniel Morkovine of the Stags defeated Jimmy Soper of the Banana Slugs 6-2, 6-1. In the #6 singles match, Max Macey of Claremont Mudd Scripps defeated Derek Levchenko of UC Santa Cruz 6-0, 6-2. The tightest singles match of the day was the #2 singles match between ITA NCAA Division III #33 Skyler Butts of the Stads and Chad Stone of the Banana Slugs. Butts defeated Stone 6-7 (6), 6-1, (10-4) 

The Stags won all three doubles matches. The tightest of the doubles matches - the #2 doubles match between ITA NCAA Division III #21 Butts and Morkovine of the Stags and Levchenko and Stone of the Banana Slugs and the #3 doubles match between Marino and Byran Mehall of the Stags and Chetan Munugala and Adrian Sirovica of the Banana Slugs – finished with 8-5 scores in favor of the Stags. In the #1 doubles match, the Stags' team of Dorn and Wood defeated the Banana Slugs' team of Littlejohn and Richter 8-4.
