SANTA BARBARA, CA -- UC Santa Cruz took on NAIA Division I member Westmont College this afternoon in Santa Barbara. The Warriors won 6-3. 

Both teams won their last matches. The Banana Slugs won 5-4 over Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park on Saturday while the Warriors won 5-4 over San Diego Christian College 5-4 on last Friday in Santa Barbara. 

Of the six singles matches played, the Warriors won five and the Banana Slugs won one. In the #6 singles match, Derek Levchenko of the Banana Slugs defeated Tommy Nightingale of the Warriors 6-2, 6-3.  Four of the Warriors' victories were in straight sets. In the #1 singles match, Luke Whalen of Westmont defeated Chadwick Stone of UC Santa Cruz 6-2, 6-3. In the #2 singles match, Carl-Philip Lindqvist of the Warriors defeated AJ Flora of the Banana Slugs 6-3, 6-4. In the #4 singles, Christian Mathis of Westmont defeated James Soper of UC Santa Cruz 6-2, 6-2. In the #5 singles match, Travis Kimsey of Westmont defeated Sean Hollister of UC Santa Cruz 6-3, 6-4. The #3 singles match was the tightest as Chetan Munugala of UC Santa Cruz took on Jan Sibbel of Westmont. Sibbel defeated Munugala in three sets 6-1, 1-6, 7-5. 

In the doubles competition, the Banana Slugs won two matches and the Warriors won one match. In the #2 doubles match, the Banana Slugs' team of Flora and Adrian Sirovica defeated the Warriors' team of Mathis and Sibbel 9-8 (5). In the #3 doubles match, the Banana Slugs' team of Hollister and Munugala defeated the Warriors' team of Tommy Nightingale and Luke Whalen 8-6. In the #1 doubles match, the Warriors' team of Kimsey and Lindqvist defeated the Banana Slugs' team of Max Littlejohn and Kyle Richter 8-4
