Saintignon becomes UCSC's all-time scorer

SANTA CRUZ - John Saintignon became the all-time UCSC basketball career scoring leader with 30 points Saturday night, but the Sea Lions, hobbled by injury and illness, dropped a 96-84 decision to Pomona-Pitzer.

With 6-foot-8 center Tom Meallet and 6-4 forward Michael Moors out with an ankle injury and the flu, respectively, UCSC started a team with a 6-2 center, two 6-1 forwards, a 5-11 guard and a 5-9 guard. "Their size wore us down in the second half," UCSC Coach Mark Henry said.

Dave DiCesaris, a 6-6 forward, scored 18 of his 27 points after the intermission.
