After a nationwide search, UC Santa Cruz department of Athletics and Recreation is proud to announce Aaron Gray, as the new Director of Athletic Communications for the Banana Slugs.
Gray joins UCSC after serving as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at NCAA Division III, Pomona-Pitzer Athletics for the past 4 years. With the Sagehens, Gray assisted in day to day operations of the Athletic Communications office while working to increase social media coverage and live stream coverage of all 21 varsity sports. Before his work at Pomona-Pitzer, Gray served at his Alma-Mater, Division III Messiah as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. In addition to serving in that capacity, Gray was a student-athlete for Messiah, competing for four years as a decathlete/heptathlete, earning three conference championships and a USTFCCCA All-Academic Honor award. “We’re beyond excited to add Aaron to our team here at UCSC.” said Director of Athletics and Recreation, Chris Spells. “His passion for Division III Athletics and Recreation, desire to lead at the highest level, and continued attention to detail and push to elevate the student-athlete experience is evident in his past work, and is something we’re looking forward to seeing here for our Banana Slugs.”
