Santa Cruz Women Sailing
Monday Night Women’s Sailing
The UCSC Boating Club offers a unique opportunity for women of all ages and backgrounds to sail together every Monday evening. This group has been active for over 10 years and provides a great environment to improve skills, have fun, and practice for the keelboat checkout test to become certified skippers.
Organizational Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Open to UCSC boating club members and their guests. Members have first priority; guests are welcome as space allows.
- Boat Capacity: Each boat requires a minimum of three sailors (one checked-out skipper and at least two experienced crew) and can hold a maximum of six.
- Reservations: The organizing skipper sends an invitation via a shared calendar event before Sunday evening. Please reserve your spot by 2:00 PM on Monday. Spots are first-come, first-served. Confirmation emails are sent by 3:00 PM; please confirm your spot before heading to the dock.
- Schedule: During Daylight Savings, meet at the UCSC dock at 4:45 PM to depart by 5:00 PM and return by 6:45 PM. Times are adjusted earlier during the winter to ensure a return before dark.
- Safety: Before departure, skippers meet to discuss conditions (wind, swell, harbor sounding) and ensure boats are balanced with experienced crew.
