Rec Rental - Policies & Fees
Policies:
General:
- Renters must be currently enrolled UCSC students.
- All fees are billed to UCSC student accounts at the end of each quarter.
- Rental reservation requests are online only.
- After submitting a reservation request, you'll receive an email confirming your PICK-UP and RETURN times.
- Reservation requests must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to PICKUP time. Requests will be fulfilled whenever possible. However, requests do not guarantee reservations.
- If you no longer need your gear, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled pick-up. Cancel your reservation by emailing Rec Rental (recrental@ucsc.edu).
- If other folks in your group rented gear on a separate reservation, each person must return their rented gear with their own reservation.
Renter's Responsibilities:
- The Renter is solely responsible for any damage, loss or theft of rented equipment.
- The Renter is responsible for inspecting equipment when picking it up. The Renter is responsible for the equipment's condition upon returning it.
- The Renter is solely responsible to return the equipment in the condition it was received. Equipment may not be considered unreturned if it is brought back dirty or wet.
- Reservations not picked up and not canceled at least 24 hours before scheduled pick-up will be charged the reservation total or a $10 fee, whichever is greater.
Fees:
- Cleaning Fee for gear returned dirty or wet = $15/hour
- Late Fee = 50% of weekend rate per day past due date; $10 minimum for items with a $0 rental fee
- Replacement Fees for gear unreturned after one week from due date or damaged beyond repair = Fair Market Value, based on age and condition of gear
- Repair Cost for damaged equipment = $15/hour + cost of materials
- Reservations nor picked up or cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled pick-up = the reservation total or $10, whichever is greater
