Slugs Drop Tight 4-3 Match to No. 35 Caltech

PASADENA, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz men's team fell 4-3 to the No. 35 Caltech Beavers Saturday afternoon. The Slugs started off by winning the doubles 2-1 but were unable to pick up 3 wins in the singles to seal the deal, dropping four of the six singles matches. The Slugs are now 1-1 on their Southern California weekend which will make its final stop against the Occidental Tigers on Sunday in Los Angeles. 
 
How It Happened
The Slugs strong start wins at No.2 and No.3 doubles, earning 6-3 and 7-5 victories, respectfully. They only dropped doubles No. 1 6-4. Occidental went on to win singles No. 1 through No.4. Among those Benjamin Wang got extremely close to victory in three sets but lost the last one in heartbreaking fashion 7-6 (7-5). No.5 Mayur Nookla achieved a match victory in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. No. 6 Arjun Tandon was also able to win his match in three sets. After dropping the first set 4-6 he went on to win the remaining two sets 6-3, 6-4.
